Whispering River Orchestra

Registered Charity supporting an orchestra, lessons, community music programs

As Greater Parry Sound's Music Hub we offer programs that engage and showcase the whole community. We are the proud creators and presenters of Riversongs Cultural Fall Fair, an annual festival showcasing Canadian and local music, art and poetry. Throughout the season we offer:

Orchestra, Chamber Music and Choir Concerts, including an annual Messiah and concerts featuring local professional artists.
lessons and group classes for kids and adults in strings and music fundamentals that are affordable or offered on a scholarship basis.
special workshops for all levels and ages of string players
school programs with stringed instruments and professional instruction
violins, violas, cellos and basses for kids of all ages to borrow or rent at reasonable rates
Music Moppets and String Pals classes for younger learners
Coffee Houses and Poetry Circles on the Final Friday of every month ( on line or in person)
Composers Circles and Commissions/premiers of New Music by outstanding Canadian composers
We award music scholarships as needed and provide free programming for children, youth and seniors otherwise unable to afford lessons throughout the Parry Sound area.

Whispering River Music is the project of the Ardeleana Chamber Music Society, a Registered Canadian Charity promoting music by and for Canadians since 1987. In 2014 we made Parry Sound our home base. We are currently teaching and rehearsing at Foley Community Hall, 60 Rankin Lake Rd.
